Despite the claims of work done by this gentleman for folks of notoriety that was not our experience with this man. I feel that he is capable of fine work and that he selects who will be benefactors of this work. Regretfully we were not chosen We arrived when told our job was ready to pick up the headboard and table my sister left to be refinished. The furniture was full of dust and wood sanding materials. Unusual, so we wiped it off. We noted that the headboard had numerous areas where the staining had been applied, dripped and dried in the drip formation. When we called this to his attention, truly a simple enough matter to fix had he been so inclined, he became extremely angry. He mentioned that we were expecting perfection. We weren't but we were in expectation of properly applied staining appropriately brushed so as not to have dripping noted down the front of the headboard. I could have pulled that off myself. I didn't need a professional for that. At some point, he handed my husband some fine steel wool so that he could smooth down these drip areas in rather a "do it yourself" type operation. We also left a foyer table belonging to my Mom for refinishing. We told him that we did not know what kind of wood was under the paint nor why it had been painted rather than refinished. When he removed the paint from the top of the table, the wood had a distinctly greenish cast which is likely why someone painted the table initially. I think a call to the customer at that point might have resulted in good instructions in light of more available information. Likely, no one would choose to do anything but repaint the piece due to the very visible greenish cast to the wood. Frankly, the headboard, when he fixed the drips, was an average job. Not outstanding by any means but adequate. More problematic was the anger in his conversation with my sister to let her know for the 2nd time that the bed was ready for pick up. In this call made to her home he stated he would not any longer be willing to take a check from her or a credit card. She would need to pay in cash only. My sister is not a dead beat. She owns her own home & served her country for 20 years. She came prepared to pay for her work in cash when we went to pick up the bed the first time. It was only when we called to his attention to the very obvious drips at the top of the headboard and respectfully asked that the drip runs be fixed that he became punitive in his behavior towards my sister. I think that is poor form. Often you learn more in a business dealing in which one party or the other have a problem. Resolution is an art form. I deeply regret saying this but I would not take anything else to this gentleman for refinishing. If anything of a corrective nature needed to occur I would not wish to be the recipient of such treatment because I asked for it to be attended to.
